Welcome to Blogmas day 17! This past weekend we started off with a bad Saturday morning, discovered The Final Table on Netflix, did toddler crafts, and went a bit crazy while shopping at Menards.
My husband and I are both lucky to have weekends off from work and we are (for the most part) homebodies. We love to be home. Specially in the winter because it’s cold outside.
Elena and I slept in until noon!
My husband took both of our vehicles (one is a car and the other is a van) to the mechanic. They are both fine, but needed some repairs.
At noon, when I got up, Esteban was moping. At least, that’s what I thought he was doing. He was actually trying to clean up dirty water that had overflown in our kitchen sink.
It was a horrible Saturday “morning.
Dirty water came up in our kitchen sink and then dropped to the floor once the sink was overfilled with dirty water. The water was clear for the most part but had grease and red chuck-y stuff.
This happened once before and it then goes through under the kitchen wall to our hallway and from there it goes to the bedrooms. It was a disaster.
This happens when our neighbors above us throw food down the pipes. Our landlord had someone come fix it right away and I washed so many dishes that day. My husband moped the floors once we got rid of the dirty water. All the pots and pans under the sink needed to be washed and pretty much majority of the kitchen needed to be cleaned.
After my husband got both of our vehicles repaired, we had Chipotle for lunch and Elena had McDonald’s. We try to avoid eating out with Elena because we never know how it will go for us. It can be good or bad. That’s life with a toddler.
We started watching The Final Table on Netflix and we are hooked! That’s all we watched this weekend. We have a thing for cooking shows.
Elena fell asleep next to me in the couch after she “addressed Christmas cards for her friends.”
We did two ornament crafts (one is from Target and the other is from Michael’s.)
The hand ornament was a fail. I regret doing it on a paper because it stuck to it. It even stuck to the plastic circle that it came with, so we won’t be doing that again. If we do, we won’t use the plastic circle and we won’t use paper.
The penguin ornament is so cute and Elena loves to paint, but the colors it came with were black, green, and red. The penguin is pretty much all black, but Elena loved this so much!
Elena woke me up at 9 something AM even though we went to bed at almost 2am! It was a pain getting out of bed, but Elena kept saying “get up, mommy! It’s morning.” She’s too cute.
Esteban got us Denny’s for breakfast. Yum!
I did my usual Sunday chores of laundry and cleaning, and Elena always helps out.
After, we read books and Elena cooked me food in her toy kitchen.
I love listening to podcasts while I clean and watch dishes. My favorite podcast is Alli On The Run.
We went to Menards to to buy a few Christmas presents for the little ones in Esteban’s family. We ended up only buying gifts for his little sister because Esteban says he wants to bring his little brothers to Menards to choose their presents (toys).
$100 something later, we went home.
Elena’s favorite kind of toys are baby dolls. She was so happy with her new baby doll. We named her rose.
We finished our weekend by having dinner in the living room and watching The Final Table on Netflix.
I treated myself to this yummy festive brownie. Yum!
I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! The weather has been pretty nice for December and I’m not complaining.
Are you done with Christmas shopping?
What’s your favorite show on Netflix?
