We started December with an amazing weekend of fun! Dinner at Chilli’s + lots of shopping + Elena’s first time at the movie theater!
22 days until Christmas!
Saturday, my husband, daughter and I slept in until a little before 10am. I picked up the whole apartment after breakfast, did laundry, and I introduced Elena to her very first ever Christmas advent calendar. My husband was out. He picked up our van from the mechanic and went to the bank for quarters.
Here is the before and after of the play room. oh what a difference! I try to pick up each evening, so this doesn’t happen but these past few days have been busy. If you like these before and after pictures, make sure to follow me on my Instagram stories.
On Saturday, Elena was excited and curious to learn about the advent calendar. As a two-year old, she got upset that she could only eat one chocolate haha.
On Sunday (day 2), she was okay with only getting one 🙂
Advent calendar is from Trader Joe’s. I LOVE Trader Joe’s!!
“I working, mommy.”
I ran on the treadmill for 2 miles and for dinner we went to Chilli’s. Chilli’s is one of my favorite restaurants. My other favorite is Olive Garden. Fun fact: My husband worked at Chilli’s right before I met him in high school. He aid he only worked there two weeks haha.
My favorite pasta is the Cajun pasta without chicken. I love how they started giving out free chips and salsa! Yum! My husband always gets a burger. We stopped buying kids meal for Elena because she never eats much of it. We just share food with her and it fill her up. She loves the pasta too!
After Chilli’s we were so full and just wanted to go back home and sleep. Plus, it was raining the whole day. We walked over to Michael’s. I just need a 2019 budget planner (by Me And My Big Ideas AKA Happy Planner). I was lucky to find one. They have been sold out online for a while. There were only two at this store and I bought one.
The Happy Planner Budget 2018 ReviewÂ
Michael’s had so much great Christmas stuff and it was all discounted 40%-70%. Plus I had a 20% off coupon. Esteban was going nuts looking at EVERYTHING and that’s not like him.
We bought Elena a kids art easel. It has both a chalkboard and white board. We also bought a roll of paper for her to use for painting. This is her Christmas present. She already saw it, obviously, and was a bit upset that she couldn’t open it yet.
I told Elena she could get one play-dough, and she got three! She’s so cute.
- I found the 2019 budget planner!
- Elena’s Christmas present
- I bought a few santa baskets for gift baskets!
- great find at Nordstrom Rack, but I didn’t buy it.
DSW is the only place where my husband and I buy shoes. I get Elena’s shoes from here too, but sometimes I go to Carter’s or Target too. If you don’t shop here, you’re missing out! Their prices are fair, but there are always coupons and you can use several at the same time!
Elena loves trying on all the shoes 🙂
We didn’t buy her any this time. We’ll be back soon, though!
- try on #1
- try on #2
- try on #3
- Esteban bought snow boots
We stopped next door at Nordstrom Rack to see if they had any North Face jackets, and there were none! For women’s, they did have a few rain jackets, but nothing for winter. I had never been to a Nordstrom Rack (I didn’t even know they existed until recently) until last month. Last month, I saw a few North Face jackets, but I didn’t realize that they would sell out. I missed out!
We immediately went home after because there was thunder and the drive home was pretty bad, but we made it home safe.
On Sunday, my husband and I took Elena to the movies for the first time! I was a bit nervous because I wasn’t sure if Elena would sit for the entire movie. We watched Ralph broke the Internet.Â
I’ll be posting a dedicated post about Elena’s first time at the movies later this week + my tips on taking your two-year old to the movies.
The rest of our Sunday, we went to Menards and then Elena spent the evening at my parents’ house. Esteban watched a few episodes of How To Get Away With Murder. We watch everything on Netflix. The only show I keep up with on TV is Grey’s Anatomy.
This weekend was a great start for December. I’m super excited for all the upcoming holiday events and movies (at home).
How was your weekend?
How old was your child when you took him or her to the movies?
