Welcome to the 2nd day of Blgmas! For a whole year, I paid a gym membership, and I only went to the gym to run on the treadmill. That’s how I trained for my first half marathon. I now have my own treadmill at home and it makes my life so much easier. In this blog post, I share my small at home gym!
23 days until Christmas!
My small home gym is in our living room. My husband, toddler daughter, and I live in a two bedroom apartment, and this is the best room to have my treadmill.
My small gym area is in one of the living room corners. The treadmill is facing the TV. I love watching Netflix on TV or Youtube on my phone on the treadmill.
The treadmill that I currently have (pictured here) is the ProForm 505 CST Folding Treadmill with power incline.
I bought this treadmill this past summer 2018 from Wal-Mart and I love it. It doesn’t make much noise, it runs smoothly, it’s fold-able, can incline, have several speeds and workouts (I’ve never tried the workouts).
I usually keep the TV remote control and a mini calendar/planner on my treadmill. I like to write down my miles in my “running journal” which is just a mini planner from the dollar store.
I keep all my workout shoes on a shoe rack by the back wall. On the top shelf I keep a pack of resistance bands. On the bottom shelf I have two 3 lbs weights. Right now, I have a mini tree because of the holidays. Next to the shoe rack, I have two yoga mats. My daughter and I do yoga in the living room.
Next to the treadmill (between the wall and the treadmill, I keep the maintenance lubricant that I use to lubricate the running belt. I use it about every 3 months. This the one I use, click here.
My walls are my favorite! I love seeing my medals everyday. I have some of my bibs up on the wall too.
I’ve never run a full marathon, but when I saw the Chicago Marathon poster for 2017, I knew I needed it for my home gym! Chicago is my city, and this poster reminds me of my goal—> to run a full marathon one day. I’m currently aiming to running 26.2 miles January 2020 at Disney World.
This small area in my home makes me so happy because I love running and I love watching my daughter grow her love for living an active and healthy life. Elena loves to cheer me during my runs and she loves doing workouts with me on the yoga mats. She even “runs” on the treadmill sometimes (with supervision).
What do you keep in your home gym?
What’s your favorite race?
Are you a treadmill runner?
