Thanksgiving and Black Friday have come and gone. In this blog post, I share about my Thanksgiving day and where I shopped for deals on Black Friday. Less than 30 days to go for Christmas!
Thanksgiving week was a tough week for me (work-wise) due to short staff and needing to work extra hours. Sleeping in on Thanksgiving morning was a must for me! I needed all the sleep I could get since I wasn’t getting much the other days.
We all woke up at around 11:30am. Even my husband woke up late (he is usually the first one up even on weekends!).
We received a video call from my mom a few minutes after we had gotten up (actually I was still in bed, but Elena and my husband were up). My mom called to ask Esteban if he wanted to bring his grandma to Thanksgiving dinner at my mom’s house.
This is what I’m thankful for:
I’m so thankful for my family, husband, daughter, health, home, and for all of you!!
My husband, daughter, and I all got ready for a 3pm Thanksgiving dinner after we ate breakfast. Esteban picked up his grandma and brought her over. My mom lives around the corner from us,so we walked over.
My mom made so much food! Quesadilla with peppers, Quesdillas with mushrooms, menudo, corn tamales, chicken, rice, mashed potatoes, and 3 different home made salsas.
I was actually still kind of full from breakfast, so I only ate two large quesadillas with peppers and some mashed potatoes.
This was my second meatless Thanksgiving.

- ate this at my house before going to Esteban’s aunt’s house
Elena’s favorite part was the cake! She loves to be the center of attention and she loves to pretend like it’s her birthday every time that there is cake.
We had so much fun spending time together. It was my parents, my two brothers, Esteban’s grandma, my daughter and my husband.
We also watched our wedding video because Esteban’s grandma hadn’t seen it. She said she didn’t even know we were married haha. Esteban claims he told her. She lives in Mexico and this is her first time visiting the United States.
We went home for a bit and I did one load of laundry (I’m telling you, Thanksgiving week was tough!). My mother-in-law and her two children (my little sister and brother-in-law) came to visit to spend some time together.
My little sister-in-law has the most gorgeous hair and she had it professionally styled that morning. She loves being Elena’s aunt.

For the evening, my husband, daughter, mother-in-law, kids, and I went to Esteban’s aunt’s house. Everyone on my father-in-law’s family was there. They had some food, but we just ate fruit and Elena had so much fun playing with all the other little ones in the family. Esteban has so many little cousins and more brothers on his dad’s side.
Since Esteban and I, both, had to work the following day, we left the family at 9pm and headed to Target!
Target is the only place we ever go on “Black Thursday.”
I REALLY wanted to get the baby camera that was on sale, but our local Target was sold out of them and they were not sold online. I bough clothes for Elena and myself and Rubbermaid containers plus a few little gifts.
Black Friday
It was just a normal day at work except we had less staff due to people taking off for the holiday. One of the doctors I work with brought in bagels and donuts for everyone at the office. Everyday, I take oatmeal to work in my Disney mug and I also take a banana.
In the evening, after dinner, my husband, daughter and I went to a different Target (the biggest Target around). I really wanted that baby camera, but no luck!
Elena did not want a picture and she took her backpack with her to Target. It had two pull ups inside haha. She has been potty trained for a few months now!
Wendy’s fries with vanilla frosty = delicious!
I’m so excited for my 2019 Erin Condren life planner! I decided to go a cheaper route last year (for the first time ever), and I didn’t like it. I’m back to the EC planner world. 🙂 I’ll be doing a blog post of the things I bought.
Elena hated this PJ when it was gifted to her on her birthday early this year, but now it’s her absolute favorite! Who can understand toddlers?
I hope everyone had a delicious Thanksgiving and a safe Black Friday!
