2 more months until RunDisney’s Wine & Dine weekend! In this blog post I share how running in August went for me and my running plan for the month of September. It’s week 6-9 of my half marathon training.
August was a hot month! I only ran outside on my weekend runs and the rest I ran on my treadmill at home. The weather during my weekend runs in August was 80-90 degrees Fahrenheit.
“almost gave up” run:
August 26 because it was 87 degrees, super sunny, and my brother gave up half way, but I finished by myself.
*Sept 2nd because of the great lake view and it was in the low 80s AND because I finished 6 miles (longest run in almost 3 years)!
August total miles:
*I’m counting Septmeber 2nd as part of my August running because it was part of August’s last week (I’m doing my planning in “weeks.” Total miles for August only includes August days and does not include my 6 miles from September 2nd.
November 2018 will be my 2nd half marathon (my first one was in 2015) and this will be my first time running 3 different races in the same long weekend. Because they are Disney races, my main goal is to have blast and cross the finish line without injuries! Running at Disney is my absolute favorite and Disney races was the reason I started running in 2015.

I stuck to my running plan in August and never skipped a run (I moved two of my runs to the following day but never skiped a run). I’m so glad I followed my plan because I feel so much confident now. If you read my August blog post, I shared about how I was not feeling so sure about my running because I didn’t run for one whole month previous to that.
I really feel like my running plan is working for me and I am pretty confident that I will complete the 5K, 10K, and half marathon at Disney World without getting swept.
The following September running plan (below) was created by me using my past experience with training for a long distance race and also by using Jeff Galloway’s training plan as guidance from the Run Disney website. I made this plan specifically for me, but feel free to follow it or use it as a guideline for creating your own plan.

Please note, I am not a professional runner nor am I an expert at making running plans. I am not a running coach. Always consult your doctor for any medical questions and/or concerns about your own health. I am only sharing my running plan for the month of August 2018.
My goal this month is to work myself up to running a 10 miler in October.
For cross training, I plan to do yoga, walking, and stretch band exercises (I’m not so good at making time for cross training-I need to work on that!).
I will continue to blog about my running plans monthly and I will of course give you updates about my miles and running along the way. 🙂
