Welcome to my first weekend blog! This is where I share all about my weekend from family adventures to my runs and everything else in between.
My bestie is engaged + long drive + Buffalo Wild Wings as vegetarian + Elena’s dream came true!
Saturday, Elena and I slept in and then “dada” joined us in bed when we woke up. Esteban is a morning person and he wakes up hours before Elena and I wake up.
After breakfast, I cut up some watermelon and cantaloupe to take to our friend’s house later that evening. Elena loves cantaloupe more than watermelon, so I saved some for her.
The play room is a room that I’m constantly picking up in, vacuuming it, and cleaning it. Below is a before and after picture.
- silly in bed
- fresh fruit for evening gathering

My high school bestie, Herlinda, moved to a town an hour away from me recently and she also got engaged! I’m so happy for her 🙂 On Saturday, my husband, Elena, and I visited her for the first time in her new home. Herlinda also invited a few of her other close friends to hang out for the evening.
Our plan was to leave Elena with Esteban’s step mom, but Elena didn’t want to. I never force her to anything that she doesn’t want to do, so I we brought Elena and she was a very a good girl the whole evening.
For the 2 hour (round trip) drive,I packed popcorn, watermelon, bananas, cookies, and raisins.
- food for the long drive
- Elena did great. She loves her babies so much.
Elena had so much fun meeting new people, playing with her babies, and playing with new toys (borrowed from Herlinda’s fiance).
For dinner, the group ordered Buffalo Wild Wings (wings, pretzels, and potato wedges)Â and I ordered a black bean burger. It was my first time eating Buffalo Wild Wings as vegetarian and the burger was delicious but not the best black bean burger that I’ve had.
- she’s obsessed with her babies
- building a tower with magnets
- black bean burger
- Buffalo Wild wings
We had a great time visiting my friend at her new home and seeing her and her fiance!
Elena wanted a picture with her new friend 😉 They have seen each other before but Elena didn’t remember.
We got home late and after picking up and cleaning our home before bed, I got on the treadmill at midnight (technically on Sunday) to walk a half mile. I’ve been really into watching Disney vlogs on Youtube during my treadmill workouts lately. Elena stayed up and watched me from the sofa as per usual. She refuses to go to bed without me even if it means falling asleep on the sofa while I work out.
On Sunday morning at 10:30am my brother and I went to our local forest preserve park to do our weekly outside run. After running for about 2.5 miles, my brother decided to go back to the car and wait for me until I finished my 5 miles. It was HOT, humid, and just horrible so I didn’t blame him.
I ran the remaining miles by myself to complete 5 miles. I had no take it slow because of the hot weather, but in overall I was very pleased with my time.
If you want to read about my August running plan click HERE.
- Saturday late at night. Technically Sunday morning at midnight.
- Sunday morning run outside in 87 degree weather.
- Sunday run
- 5 miles done!
Shower + compression socks + food + nap after a long run = best thing ever
After my shower, I walked over to my mom’s house to get food. My mom gives us food about twice a week (sometimes even more!). I’m so blessed to have her around the corner from me and that she loves to cook.
I immediately passed out once I got in bed with Elena and we both took a nap (we love to sleep, can you tell?)
…And Esteban ate the last ice cream from the fridge so he had to hide it from Elena haha.
- walk to my mom’s house
- food made by my mom
- nap time!
- Esteban hiding from Elena
We ended our weekend by going to Chuck E. Cheese and Trader Joe’sÂ
Elena loves Chuck E. Cheese. She might even like him just as much as Mickey Mouse!
She was so thrilled to finally hug him. Whenever we are at Chuck E Cheese, he usually only comes out for a few minutes to dance and throw out some tickets and then he leaves immediately. This time, he stuck around for pictures. Elena was overjoyed to finally get the chance to hug him.Â
After, we went to Trader Joe’s to do some grocery shopping. I, of course, plan my list on Disney paper 😉
- Elena loves Chuck E. Cheese
- dance. dance, dance!
- I plan my grocery list on Disney paper
- Trader Joe’s haul
What does weekend routine look like?
Do you grocery shop in the weekend or during the week?
Do you like driving long distance?
Have you ran in 90 degree weather?
