Valentine’s day is my one of my favorite days of the year. Although, Valentine’s day can be celebrated anytime of the year with a romantic dinner or night out or simply spending time with your LOVED ones, there’s just something about February 14th! Might be the date, the month, or the fact that all stores and places are decorated in red, pink, hearts, and cupids. I love it all 🙂
I feel the love in the air. I really do!!
I wasn’t expecting much today, February 14. I woke up, got ready for work, dropped off Elena and off to work I went. Then, Esteban texted me saying that we were going out tonight and that his step-mom would watch our daughter, Elena. I said sure!
We originally had plans of going out to the weekend before Valentine’s day but the weather got in the way. We had SEVERAL inches of snow in the Chicago area the Friday and Sunday before Valentine’s Day (Wednesday).
Fast forward to after work on Valentine’s Day:
Esteban usually gets out of work a bit before me, so when I get home Elena and him are home already. I ended up picking up Elena and taking her home since Esteban said he was still at work. When I got home, Esteban was home and said I needed to wait just 5 minutes before entering. Obviously, right away I knew he was up to something.
My husband made me close my eyes until I entered the kitchen where he had a surprise for me!
I was totally surprised! I thought maybe he had gotten flowers and that we were just going out for dinner, but my husband went all out! He usually spoils me like this each valentine’s day, but I honestly I never expect it. Each and every gift was so thoughtful and perfect. He knows me so well!
Here is what I got for Valentine’s Day:
- My favorite chocolates!
- Chocolate covered strawberries!
- Disney Nano Metalfics collectables
- mini table top succulents
- “Best Mom Ever” mini dishes
- Hearth & Hand (Chip and Jo) Timer
- Things I’ve been wanting for my new camera
- I <3 U balloon
- kissy balloon
What Elena got for Valentine’s Day:

Elena is really into Peppa Pig at the moment and immediately wanted to color in it. She was in the middle of eating a chocolate cover strawberry when Esteban gave this to her and she stopped eating it right away.
What my mom got Elena and I:
Dinner:
We cancelled our date and told Esteban’s step-mom that we weren’t taking Elena to her. After a long day of work, we were hungry! We were not in the mood of showering and getting dressed up to go out for dinner in the middle of the week.
We agreed of getting Chilli’s TO GO. I picked up our food and we celebrated Valentine’s Day at home. Just the 3 of us 🙂 I love love love spending evenings with my husband and daughter. I’m so lucky to be able to do that every single day.

I’m vegetarian and I ordered pasta without chicken, and they gave me chicken. No worries, I took it out.
I’m so fortunate to be married to a wonderful husband who knows me very well and supports all my crazy ideas and goals everyday of the year. I hope to spend many more Valentine’s Day with him and our beautiful daughter 🙂
