We’re a couple days away from a new year! During this time, most take the time to “start fresh.” New year, new start! In this blog post, I share my New Year’s resolutions for 2018.

1. Prioritize family time/activities
My daughter is turning 2 in January and I can’t believe how time has flown by. I make it my absolute priority to spend time with her daily regardless of how many things I need to get done. In 2018, I will prioritize family time and activities. My husband and I love spending time at home and Elena is the complete opposite. I want to go out on several family outings and do things outside the home as a family in 2018!
2. Go out on husband/wife dates
Since we become parents, Esteban and I have never been out on a date without Elena! We spend time alone at home while Elena sleeps or we go out on a date with Elena, but we haven’t gone a date outside the home without Elena. It’s not because we don’t have anyone to watch Elena. We are fortunate to have parents nearby who adore Elena, but we never felt like it was right. We have tried going out by ourselves more than just a few times. There have been occasions when we get a babysitter scheduled and then we end up cancelling and taking Elena with us. In 2018, that’s going to change. We will be going out on dates!
3. Simplify
Minimalism is in right now. Although, I don’t plan on going minimal, I do plan on simplifying! I’m ready to simplify my home (including my shoe closet with 50+ pairs of shoes!). Living with a toddler has taught me to simplify the hard way because those little hands touch everything. The less things out, the faster the cleanup process will be. By simplifying and only buying what is needed and a few “want” items, it will save money too!
4. Keep up with planners
I’m all about planning (especially decorative planning), but sometimes I go weeks with writing absolutely nothing on my planner. I think part of the reason is because I don’t want to write on my Erin Condren Life Planner without making it pretty and sometimes I just don’t have the time to decorate it. The other part of not writing on my planner is because I don’t have much going on for the week. For budgeting, I always keep up with my budget planner. The budget planner is hard to forget when bills need to get paid. I plan to keep up with both planners each week for 2018. I have a planner Instagram @myplan24.7 which I plan to keep up with too! 5. Read one book per month
12 books in one year! I love reading and I have a long list of books that I wish to read. With busy schedules, I sometimes read a whole book in 3 months! in 2018, I plan to read one book per month. Follow me on goodreads by clicking here.
6. Go to bed and wake up at the same time each day
This is a big one for me. I am not a morning person, but have to wake up early for work each day during the week. I am a complete night owl and go to sleep close to midnight almost each night. Although, I would love to be a morning person, I have tried and failed at it. in 2018, I want to go bed at the same time each night and wake up the same time each day- even weekends!
7. Limit the times we order take-out
There are weeks where we order take-out almost each night! 2018 is the year to cut down on take-outs. I plan to do grocery shopping more often and create a meal planner for our family. I’m often stuck at not knowing what to cook for dinner and I think having a meal planner will help!
8. Do yoga
I’ve heard several of good things of practicing yoga. I’m starting off the year with a 30 day yoga challenge. The challenge is by Yoga with Adriene and it’s called TRUE. To read more about this Yoga challenge click HERE. After the 30 days, I plan to incorporate yoga to my exercise routine.
9. Dress up
By dress up, I don’t mean to actually dress up from head to toe every single day. Dress up for me is not wear yoga pants outside the home and to get dressed each day even if I’ll be at home. No more PJ days, no more yoga pants days in 2018. I plan to have my hair put-together, a little bit of make-up, and look put together in overall.
These are my 9 New Year’s resolutions for 2018. I hope you enjoyed reading and are inspired to write your own. What are your new year’s resolutions or goals? Let me know in the comments section below!
